Major renovations and dedicated athletes highlight the Red Raiders' commitment to excellence |
Spaulding High School in Rochester, NH, is experiencing a transformative period in its athletic programs.
With a comprehensive array of sports offerings, the school continues to foster student engagement and community pride.
In July 2025, the Rochester School District, in collaboration with the city, initiated a significant renovation of the school's athletic fields.
This $5 million project aims to modernize outdoor facilities, including the installation of a new track, improved drainage systems, and the regrading and resodding of the football field.
These enhancements are set to benefit both students and the broader Rochester community.
During the renovation period, Spaulding's fall sports teams have been utilizing facilities in neighboring districts.
The district expresses deep gratitude to regional partners for their support, ensuring that athletes can continue to compete without interruption.
Funding for this project comes from a legal settlement with Juul Labs, addressing concerns over youth-targeted marketing practices.
Importantly, no local tax dollars are being used, underscoring the district's commitment to enhancing student opportunities without additional financial burden on the community.
Interim Superintendent Jared Fulgoni emphasized the project's significance, stating, "This project reflects our district’s continued investment in student opportunity, health, and community engagement."
He added that the improvements will support Spaulding athletics and the entire Rochester community for years to come.
On the field, Spaulding's athletes have demonstrated resilience and dedication.
The girls' varsity basketball team concluded the 2024-2025 season with a 3-18 record, while the boys' team finished at 6-13.
Despite these challenges, both teams showcased determination and sportsmanship throughout the season.
The softball team had a notable season, achieving a 12-10 overall record and securing 10th place in their league.
They advanced to the NHIAA Division I tournament, where they faced a narrow 0-2 defeat against Pinkerton High School on June 7, 2025.
As the fall season approaches, the football team is preparing for upcoming games, with a season preview highlighting returning players and program history.
Despite previous season challenges, the team remains optimistic and focused on growth.
As Spaulding High School continues to invest in its athletic programs and facilities, the community eagerly anticipates a future filled with enhanced opportunities for student-athletes and strengthened community engagement.
