Rochester Announces Bridge Repairs and Road Work for August 2025 |
City plans major infrastructure improvements affecting Bridge Street, Spaulding Avenue, and Flat Rock Bridge Road |
The City of Rochester is set to commence significant bridge repairs and road work in August 2025, aiming to enhance infrastructure and ensure public safety.
Bridge Street Bridge Closure
Starting in August, the Bridge Street Bridge over the Cocheco River will undergo comprehensive repairs, necessitating a full closure to vehicular traffic. The bridge is anticipated to reopen in October.
During this period:
- Thru traffic will be rerouted via River Street.
- Access to properties between the bridge and North Main Street will be coordinated directly with residents and business owners.
- Pedestrian pathways will remain accessible, with temporary detours implemented as required.
The scope of work includes deck repairs, sidewalk restoration, and necessary updates to the storm drain system.
Spaulding Avenue and Flat Rock Bridge Road Repairs
Concurrently, deck repairs are scheduled for Spaulding Avenue and Flat Rock Bridge Road, both spanning the Salmon Falls River. Work is expected to begin in August, with the majority of repairs occurring between mid-September and late October. Throughout the construction, one-way traffic will be maintained to minimize disruptions.
Additional Infrastructure Projects
In addition to bridge repairs, the Union Street parking lot in downtown Rochester is slated for a major refurbishment between spring and fall of 2025. The $1.75 million project aims to improve functionality and environmental sustainability, including the addition of electric vehicle charging spots and enhanced stormwater management systems.
Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan accordingly and stay informed about detours and construction updates. For questions or concerns, contact the Department of Public Works at (603) 332-4096. |
